OREGON'S NATURAL RESOURCES IN DECLINE

Poor water quality, degraded riparian areas, depleted fish stocks, declining forest health and diminished biodiversity are just a few of the environmental challenges grimly impacting the health and prosperity of Oregon and its citizens.

Consider that:

  • 30,000 (or 26%) of Oregon's 115,000 stream miles fail to support aquatic life.[1]
  • Oregon loses more than $83 million annually to noxious weeds. [2]
  • Pressures on natural systems , including waterways, range and pasture lands are expected to increase as 1 million new residents are projected to move to Oregon in the next 20 years.[3]
