NAAEE's 38th Annual Conference

The North American
Association for Environmental Education's 38th annual conference will
be held in Portland, Oregon, October 7-10th, 2009. The conference
headquarters hotel is the Lloyd Center DoubleTree, a Green Seal GS-33
Lodging Sustainability-certified establishment. Sessions and events will be
held at the Oregon
Convention Center, including
exciting and interactive exhibits in the lower-level halls. Additional sessions
and events will be held at the DoubleTree and selected field trip sites. Local host, Environmental Education Association of Oregon has already begun planning, supported by a planning team of over 100. The 6th Annual Research Symposium, October 6-7Preceding
the NAAEE Annual Conference, the Research Symposium will explore how
environmental education researchers partner with their colleagues
espousing different methodological approaches, with environmental
education practitioners, and with researchers from other disciplines
(e.g., environmental psychology, science education, sociology,
ecology, or social-ecological systems).
The goals for the 2009 NAAEE Research Symposium are: 1.Facilitate discussion of EE research results, conceptual models, and ideas. 2.Foster a dialogue about The Power of Partnerships: Making a Difference in Policy and Practice. 3.Provide opportunities for graduate student professional development. 4.Facilitate discussion of an EE research learning organization

2009 Photo ContestDeadline August 15, 2009 NAAEE
seeks photos that will inspire people to achieve environmental
excellence. Entries may include anything that reflects the theme of
"Our Richly Diverse Natural World." We consider the natural world as
inclusive of different settings within the animal and plant kingdom,
which includes people. The photography contest is one element of a
larger effort by NAAEE to re-invigorate the use of the arts in the EE
field, and is sponsored by the Albert I. Pierce Foundation for the
third year in a row. Winning photos will be displayed at the NAAEE
